About Sime Darby Genomics

Sime Darby Genomics Sdn. Bhd. (SDG) is a genomics intellectual property management company created as a result of the successful oil palm genome sequencing effort undertaken by Sime Darby Technology Centre Sdn. Bhd. (SDTC) and Synamatix Sdn. Bhd.

SDG is the owner of the oil palm genome sequence and has been tasked to undertake the management of intellectual property value creation and commercialisation of those intellectual properties generated.

Functioning along the concept of open-innovation, SDG endeavors to maximize R&D and commercial value of the oil palm genome by working with collaborators around the world, including Sime Darby R&D Centre Sdn. Bhd., to create immediate value from the oil palm genome.

SDG is currently headed by Dr. K. Harikrishna, Quantum Leap R&D Head of Sime Darby R&D Centre. Being a spin-off of Sime Darby R&D Centre, SDG’s day-to-day management is supported by the Technology Ventures Unit of the Centre.
