In line with its business model of open-innovation, SDG invites and actively seeks R&D and commercial collaboration proposals from any part of the world to work on the oil palm genome. Researchers from research institutes, universities or commercial entities from around the world are invited to discuss proposals to collaborate with SDG on value creation from the oil palm genome. Select opportunities for research funding may also be available.

SDG takes a market-driven approach when creating the most value out of the oil palm genome information. It will undertake collaborative R&D and commercial projects on the oil palm genome that has clear commercial and intellectual property value to its key customer, Sime Darby Plantation Sdn. Bhd.

SDG will endeavor to provide market avenues for any intellectual properties created by SDG’s collaborators from the oil palm genome. It will also seek out new customers and markets for the intellectual properties created as a result of the knowledge derived from the oil palm genome.
