High Conservation Value Forests In The Estates
Sime Darby Plantation's commitment towards sustainable plantation practices includes maintaining High Conservation Value Forests (HCVF) in its estates.
HCVF contains:
- Significant biodiversity resources
- Rare, threatened or endangered ecosystems
HCVF also plays the role of providing natural watershed or erosion control.
At Sime Darby Plantation, the following areas will be considered to be maintained as HCVF:
- Natural forest within the estates
- Swamp areas
- River boundaries
- Water catchments and effluent pond areas
- Marginal soil areas
- Areas with slopes of more than 20 degrees gradient
