Golden Hope Research Centre (GHRC)
There are two research under GHRC, one located in Carey Island and the other in Banting, Selangor.
GHRC in Carey Island which was completed in early 2007, houses the facilities for process and product development research for plantation’s upstream and downstream businesses that was previously located in Morib, Selangor.
GHRC in Banting which used to be known as Oil Palm Research Station (OPRS) concentrates on research for plantation upstream operations which include biotechnology research, other crops and herbs research, precision agriculture, intergrated pest management, estate mechanisation in addition to agronomy and breeding. GHRC Banting serves as the main research facility for Sime Darby.
Sime Darby Technology Centre (SDTC)
The core research areas of SDTC are centred on plant biotechnology, bio processing, molecular diagnostics and natural products. SDTC's laboratories are the first in the Asia Pacific region to be accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. The accreditation on April 18, 1996 was testimony to the good laboratory practices that are in place. With this accreditation and the wide range of expertise and equipment in its laboratories, SDTC, besides undertaking its own R&D, also provides testing and consultancy services to the biotechnology and chemical sectors of industry.
Going forward, Sime Darby Plantation is in the midst of establishing a Seed Research Centre in Perlis to cater for our expanding food business within the Northern Corridor Economic Region.
